Explosion of color…

I honestly didn’t know if I could get any flowers to grow. It’s been a huge learning curve. I have learned that I planted some plants to early - my delphinium for example. I lost about half of my seedlings. I also planted some plants too late - my lisianthus, for example. I hope they will bloom before frost, but I am not holding my breath. I learned about birds stealing seed from the fields - they grabbed about a 1/4 of my zinnia seed and I also have plants blooming all over the field in places they were not planted. Thanks, dear birds! I am learning to problem solve - like covering my seeds with burlap to protect them from bird snatching, which I learned from another flower farmer. BUT, with all that said, I can not believe how many flowers I do have blooming! Stock, delphinium, lavender, scabiosa, orlaya, zinnias, just to name a few…it’s absolutely amazing. Maybe this is not a total disaster after all. I can’t wait to see the field as it continues to progress.
