Plowed and Composted
The field grass had to go if I was going to plant anything in this field! After meeting with some amazing NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Services) agents who gave me some suggestions on how to do my field and also helped me with my Haney Soils Test. So, here goes nothing - shallow tilled, to remove the first layer of grass, raked and shoveled to remove the grass clumps and big dirt clumps, waited a few days to let more weeds emerge, shallow tilled again, raked and shoveled again to remove the rest of the grass clumps and weeds, got 24 yards of compost, and finally raked and shoveled and smoothed out the compost. That was not a small project, but I learned a ton for the next field, whenever that will be.
First shallow till to get rid of the field grass
